![]() Jessica Foster is an aspiring jewelry artist. Originally from Maryland, she graduated with her BFA in December of 2006 from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia with her major in crafts and metalworking. Jessica's work is somewhat eclectic in nature, with pieces of functional jewelry interspersed with not so functional art jewelry and small metal sculpture. She prefers to work mainly in silver, as its color and availability highly appeal to her. Lately she has been concentrating more on using Argentium silver, a new alloy which is just as pure as sterling but which tarnishes much more slowly. She also enjoys using mixed media, sometimes employing carved wood or found natural objects such as bones. It has been said that she has a dark sense of humor, as she often will poke fun at death without necessarily creating an overtly morbid piece. Jessica's other interests in life include photography, music, reading, website design and perusing the vast abyss of the internet. She also is immensely devoted to the care of animals, having four rescued cats and one rescued pitbull puppy which are the light of her life. She has fostered litters of orphaned kittens (see photos!) and strongly advocates spaying and neutering pets to help prevent further overpopulation. She highly supports adopting from shelters, and is an extremely vocal proponent of the numerous benefits of truly high-quality pet foods, especially in the grisly aftermath of the massive pet food recalls last year. |
